Dexter SPOILER: Season 6 Twist That Could Change It All (UPDATED)

By: Adam Wright

Season 6 of Dexter is being watched by a record-breaking amount of people on Showtime this year.

The season sees our hero Dexter dealing with religion. Miami is also under attack by a pair of serial-killers who seem to have religious motives.

Now for the sake of this article, I will divulge that I have seen until Episode 6 of this season. I say this because I usually never post spoilers on TVDoneWright.com . But this one upcoming twist is just too big to pass up.

Now if you don’t want to know what happens, stop reading now.

SPOILER AHEAD

Still with me? Get ready.

In the final scene of Episode 6, Season 6, we have a shocking return. This return is a familiar face from the past. The return is also significant because it could change the whole dynamic of Dexter. Not just Dexter Morgan, but DEXTER the series.

That’s all I’m giving up. Who do you think is the returning familiar face? I want to hear your theories in the comment section. Every week until Episode 6 airs, I will post a CLUE.

CLUE #1 (Oct- 21st): She hasn’t been gone for long, so don’t expect a pretty blonde.

Clue #2 (Oct – 23rd): Dexter has secrets, he’s like an unsolved quiz. But only a select few know who he really is.

CLUE #3 (Oct – 30th): Shock, confusion, happy, angry…the reactions will no doubt vary. One thing is for sure, this twist will bring controversy.

The answer is most likely Rudy (aka Brian Moser aka Dexter’s older brother). Not only does it fit each and every one of the clues Adam Wright has offered, but it also makes the most sense given the plot of the show thus far. We have a mysterious character in Ryan Chambers, who seems obsessed with the Ice Truck Killer. Why is that? We have Dexter, who we know has conversations with his dead father all the time. And we have Travis, who has been having similar conversations with Professor Gellar. It’s fairly clear from the Travis/Gellar interactions that Gellar is not a living human being, but is a figment of Travis’ imagination in the same way Harry is a figment of Dexter’s imagination. The difference is that Dexter realizes it, while Travis doesn’t. So how does Ryan Chambers fit into this? I have a feeling her imaginary friend is going to be none other than Brian Moser.

Might be his mother …Laura Moser, especially after last nights episode where brother Sam was telling him to remember her before she was murdered…she might return in a similar way to harry…maybe she can provide dexter with more light

  • Icecrono2

    Not even a fucking clue

  • Mos Def for life

My money is on Harry, it would be altering to the series as a whole – directly affecting both Dexter and Deb. He, if anyone, knows who Dexter really is. Also happy, angry, shock, confusion – his kids reaction to his return and to the reason of his “betrayal”. The actor is already credited as “ghost Harry”. Other returns would be more challenging to keep under wraps. The controversy thing would probably be the soap opera move of reviving the dead.

It’s Brian. Dexter will replace Harry with the ITK and all hell breaks loose.

  • BrianMoser

    I hope is Brian Moser!

  • guest

    this makes no sense.

  • Suxu

    I know… It’s Rudy…

Looked it up on imdb.com to see who is in the episode. The only one who could potentially cause trouble is the intern, Ryan. She’s set to return. She did take the hand from evidence, so she may have possibly figured out something new about Dex or Rudy/Brian that will change things.

  • snaq

interesting theories, but I think I figured it out. clue number 1 is all about “do not expect Lumin”. clue number two is about the select few that know Dexter secrets. it is not the Mitchell kids because they are too scared to come out of the FBI’s witness protection. the third clue is the key. shock, confusion, happy, angry. who can bring out all those reactions? has to be Lila! shock because we all know she is dead. confusion because how can she return from the dead, happy because it will really make it interesting. angry because some wont buy it and/or nobody liked her anyway. why and how? clue number one tells us that it can’t be somebody that hasn’t been gone recently. clue number two tell us that this person knows Dexter’s secrets, clue number three tells us that it will be controversial. what we know about Lila’s death is that Dexter did not use his usual MO to kill her. that includes the epidermal instead of the M9. he killed her during the day in a foreign country and did not have his boat to dispose of the body properly (plus he was in a hurry because he had to catch a flight back to the States that same day). my theory is that the epidermal kept her from dying and the body was found and taken to a hospital in time.

  • Binnie

I hope it’s the great Brian, returning to do what he should have done and disinfecting “Dexter” from the stain of the foul-mouthed, moronic, horribly-acted, obnoxious trash Debra Morgan.

  • Binnie

Realistically, though, it will probably be something cheap and stupid, as that’s a staple of the show – hype it and deliver nothing. (“See Trinity face Morgan! Only to have him walk away in the first 30 seconds of the next episode. See Dexter’s sister catch him in the act! Only to reveal she hasn’t actually seen him.”) Probably something boring and dull, like “Trinity’s kid returns! Er, you know, the one who saw Dexter’s face! Yeah! Isn’t that a shocker? Wait, don’t go back to sleeeeeeep…”

Although I wouldn’t mind something hilariously stupid that would blow up the whole show. My favorite would be: Harry shows up, reveals that he’s been alive the whole time and that all those hundreds of hallucinations in which Dexter saw and heard Harry really did happen and that Harry stalked Dexter the whole damn time, hiding in closets, trunks and toilets and whispering words of advice to his son, while pretending to be a nonexistant ghostly voice of the past… :-D

Brian Moser is returning: check the stunt double cast for the 7th episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1890885/fullcredits#cast

  • Darvalics S

It is Rudy Cooper. According to IMDB, stunt doubles have been cast for Christian Camargo in the 7th episode, Nebraska.

    I have solved the mystery.

Arbors Mine is an anagram for Brian Moser O.O!

  • Rachal79

Ok after alot of searching I am 99% sure it is the ITK…his twitter account post he has a work thing he can not talk about and also he says if you click your heels three times Rudy aka Brian could return. So it has to me Brian Moser, know wether he is alive or a ghost IDK but we will see Sunday.

I like the theory but another blogger put someone from seasons 1,3 or 5. Lila was season 2.

Right, so the somewhat plausible ones worth it would be:

    - Dexter’s momma (Laura, wasn’t it?) returns, physically. Would probably be tied into the religious blabla that fills this season of Dex+er. Laura would represent Mary, mother of God, or Dexter would be Saul, or his bloody childhood days would be tied the crucifixion of Jesus… whatever floats your boat. Something heavy-handed enough.

    - Brian the ghost pops up and becomes a regular – in Dexter’s mind. Probably as an offset for Harry. From then on, Dexter would always have his Bugs Bunny moments, with a tiny Harry floating over his right shoulder, dressed as an angel, whispering: “Do no evil, Dexter… do no evil!”, and a tiny Brian wearing a devil’s costume, jumping up over Dexter’s left shoulder and going: “Yeahyeahyeah, kill’er, Dex, slice the slut, yeahyeahyeah!”

It’s either that or something really lame (the blonde intern is Brian’s sister/daughter/mother/previously-unknown-transsexual-half-brother-turned-woman-after-a-sex-change-operation that black guy turns out to be Doakes’s second cousin twice unmoved), or idiotic (Doakes returns as a mutated half-man, half-alligator | Professor Lieutenant Castillo is a demonic entity and Dexter destroys him to obtain salvation).

I agree with the Harry theory.  I did a little research and Harry’s death is definitely questionable.  I copied the following from IMDB’s synopsis of the episode where Dexter learned his Dad committed suicide. ——From “There’s Something About Harry” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1013978/synopsis”At the cabin, Dexter asks Doakes about Harry. Doakes tells Dexter that Harry’s code is preventing Dexter from killing him, and suggests that Dexter has a conscience. Dexter, furious, demands to know what Doakes knows about Harry. Doakes tells Dexter that he found out something about Harry’s death, a mystery that someone didn’t want solved.”Dexter goes to the golfcourse to see Cpt Matthews. He asks about Harry’s death. Matthews tells Dexter it was Harry’s heart. Dexter tells the Captain that he knows there was more to it than that. Matthews, resigned, tells Dexter that it was inevitable that Dexter would find out, and confesses that towards the end, Harry “lost it” and killed himself. Not believing that Harry could commit suicide, Dexter wonders about the proof. Matthews admits that the day before the suicide, Harry called him and asked that he keep an eye on Dexter and his sister. Matthews hid the autopsy report so that the information wouldn’t leakout.”
    ——

Sounds like Harry planned to disappear and Matthews was in on it.  Witness protection, perhaps?
My co-worker had a thought on how Dexter finds Harry.   At the end of Sunday’s episode, it shows Brother Sam being shot.  In the preview for the next episode, Dexter says he’s going to find who did this to Brother Sam.  Maybe when Dexter tracks down the person who shot Brother Sam, it will either be Harry or Harry will be with him.

  • Nrd97

    SPOILER ALERT
The mystery person is The Ice Truck Killer.
Here is the proof - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1890885/fullcredits#cast
As I scrolled down I saw the stunt crew, and saw that there was a stunt double for Christian Carmago guess who Christian Carmago is its the Ice Truck Killer and this can be seen on IMDB for proof.

  • Lobo

woah this is actually true wonder what the writers are thinking

  • Zodiac

    Nothing except “hype + ratings”.

It’s another cheap but trumpeted cop-out, as always on this show. He’ll be a flashback or appearing in Dexter’s imagination, like Harry. That’s all. If you’re expecting anything else, I have this really nice bridge…

  • CBSection31

It’s already been confirmed that we are going to see Christian Carmago this season…but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he is the surprise return.  Since Dexter slit his throat, he could only appear in Dexter’s mind…unless the writers pull something crazy like giving him have a twin brother.

I fail to see you this would piss anyone off. If Brian is coming back as a ‘ghost’ its not like they’re bringing him back from death. I’m not saying he won’t be in the episodes to come, but I don’t believe that ITK is the suprise returning character. I’m leaning toward the Laura Moser/Harry theories.

  • TheRealNoob

Dude just tell us already.. or give another hint.. or rule someone besides lumen, or rita out..

  • Riddle Me This

There are no clues, only riddles.

  • Rose

According to the clues, is a SHE. Hasn’t been gone for long, Only a few know Dexter secrets. Everything points to the intern who stole the ITK arm. Did you notice her name is Ryan, it rhymes with Brian. She could be her daughter or a family member. She is obsessed with the ITK case. Brian Moser can’t come back, Dexter killed him, and bringing another ghost to the series, would be a very predictable mistake. We already have ghost Harry, ghost Dr. Gellar (if this theory is true) and bringing Brian as a ghost…….it doesn’t make any sense. The only thing I don’t understand is clue # 1: Don’t expect a pretty blond, and Ryan the intern is blonde. Mmmmm, I just hope the twist is going to do good to the show to keep it credible.

  • Rose

Correction: I meant to say his daughter, The ice truck killer’s daughter.

  • thepatsy

He returns, of course as a person like Harry does, into Dex’s life, but the appearance is in the last minutes of the episode – so why Brian, why now?  He is clapping and encouraging Dex for killing Sam’s shooter, whom Sam has asked him not to kill…. so the real party starts as Brian unleashes Dexter’s dark side, and we know that Jonah makes an appearance in 7 and we know it does not go well for him, and when we find out why he is on Dex’s list, we are not that unhappy.  Does Brian stay around throughout the season to keep Dexter in the Dark because the light is creeping in?  I think those are the questions going forward.

  • Jnelson43

If it is Rudy, could that mean things are coming full circle and this is the last season?

  • rachi4ever

Ok, thanks for clearing that up… So, someone else too. Hmm, I’m so curious!

  • rachi4ever

Ooo, that’s dark and twisted! lol She has gone down a more rebellious path lately…

  • rachi4ever

I’ve seen all the episodes and I can’t quite figure out which kid you mean? Which season is the kid from?

  • rachi4ever

Since imdb.com has a stunt-double cast for Brian Moser’s character in episode 7, I wonder if that’s the simple answer. Info for “Nebraska” episode says “Dexter is accompanied by a fellow Dark Passenger on a trip to Nebraska to tie up past loose ends.” This makes me think the person returning could be:

    1. Harry. He could be a real, living person. This could work perfectly because there wouldn’t be any big-spoilers on the cast list because he is already cast on this show. If he never really died but is really living in Nebraska that would fit the clues. It’s controversial that he would “abandon” Deb and Dexter. It’s shocking, confusing, and will certainly make Deb and Dexter conflicted with both having angry and happy reactions. Also, Harry knows the real Dexter too…
    2. Laura Moser. She could possibly be alive (although I doubt it), and maybe her sister or someone else in the family died and not her. Which could still leave the question.. Is Harry still alive too? I don’t know…

    Also, less possible options are:
    1. Lumen (although I’m thinking probably not)2. It’s simply Brian Moser’s character who returns as “Dexter’s Dark Passenger” to go to Nebraska to find information about someone there. And that someone could be Harry or Laura Moser, or something less exciting, perhaps relating to Lumen’s capturers- maybe one isn’t really dead. Hmm…
    3. Lila- we don’t know if she actually died… But she isn’t credited anywhere that I could find for this season.
    4. Jonah. Although this has been sort of verified, and is thus non-spoilery as this article suggests.

Also, I’m curious how Mike Anderson will tie in this season as the new detective on the force. I think he’s smarter than he seems and he’s billed to be there the rest of the season according to imdb.com. Maybe he’s related to Doakes? Who knows…

Ryan, the intern. What’s her deal? She has some connection to the Ice Truck Killer, so where does that leave the Brian Moser return possibility? Or Brian’s twin? We don’t know… But I think Ryan has a significant place in this season, I hope so anyway. I love the idea that the arm got stolen from evidence. That leaves room for a lot of possible story lines, I think… There would be many ways for the department to look back on that case… We’ll have to see! :)

I also wonder how Jamie Batista (the new nanny for Harrison) could play out. What if she notices something that no one else notices about Harrison, or even, Dexter? Maybe she’s not “all-good” as she seems. I know that sounds bad, but you never know!

Harry may be dead, or he may be alive.  But, you know who is dead; Prof. Gellar.  If you notice, he never touches, talks, or interacts with anyone besides Travis.  Much like Harry does with Dexter.  IE: he has been missing for more than 3 years.  When Dexter had Travis in the car, Travis mentioned that Prof. Gellar talks to god and that he has proven it to him.  This is how he has proven it to him.  Wow! Dexter is the best.

  • Bibi

    His brother, of course!

  • rdny

I’m adding a crazy ass theory here. So we know that the returning character was in fact

*spoiler*Brian Moser. Now lets say, Brian is going to be assuming the role of Harry as Dexter’s guide. This will more than likely make Dexter act much more recklessly than normal. We also know that Deb know’s that ‘Trinity’ is back. She tells Dexter either where he killed his family, or where Jonah is hiding, Nebraska [Road Trip!]. Dexter is obviously going to kill Jonah this season. But what happens after that? Jonah winds up dead, after Deb tells Dex where he’s hiding? Deb is bound to be suspicious. Add to the fact that Deb seems to be questioning everything in her life this season… It doesn’t bode well for Dexter.

It’s funny. I got my girlfriend interested in Dexter a few months ago (I’ve been a Dexter fan for years). I recently re-watched S1 with her, and after it I was talking to her about ITK, roughly:

“It’d have been an amazing idea had they kept ITK in the series. You remember those old cartoons where characters had a devil on one shoulders and an angel on the other, and they would fight for the character’s attention and decisions? That should be the Harry/ITK dynamic!”

I actually feel like it would add a lot of SOUL to Dexter as a character, too. Rather than these plain, dehydrated monologues as the actor sits there riding his boat speechlessly thinking about a decision and saying “I’m so confused,” it could be visually depicted by his ‘good’ and ‘evil’ inner selves having an outward conflict, progressively yelling over each other and vying for Dexter to take their side.

At the end of the last episode, though, I hope they don’t plan to just omit ITK again forever. I want him to be active — in every episode — either arguing with Harry, appearing at separate times from Harry, and even occasionally agreeing with Harry.

  • Jespeach

Dude. LUMEN hasn’t been gone long. The clue was in reference to RITA, who HAS been gone long.

The person who returned was Dexter’s brother, which I called when they starting bringing up the Ice Truck killer in almost every episode. The intern was just a prop to give them a reason to bring it up.

  • Jespeach

Actually, there are many scenes in which we see Harry, then when the camera angle changes, only Dexter. The same thing happened with Brian and the pitchfork. Harry is dead. What do you think he drove on up ahead of Dexter and hid in the bathroom where Dexter killed that scumbag right after Rita died? There’s theory, and then there’s conspiracy theory.

What most people seem to have missed, Harry is the light in Dexter than Sam was talking about. Brian is his dark side. That is why when Dexter thought he didn’t have any light, Brian showed up. When Dexter realized that wasn’t true, that he did have light, Harry returned and Brian was gone.

Also, about the Gellar thing: There was never a doubt that Professor Gellar was real. It’s whether or not he’s still alive that’s been in question.
