Random thoughts (ready… set … go!)
There’s a lot they got right, but Mariska Hargitay and SVU have run their course. I didn’t expect to see her name this year. I’m happy for Sharon Gless finally getting some recognition, and love the love for Friday Night Lights. I thought Matt Bomer had an outside shot for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama, but lots of competition there so maybe next year. (Problem is that USA shows never skew toward drama or comedy. Monk was the noted exception, thought I’m surprised to see Tony Shalhoub’s name again this year, even if the Monk finale was excellent).
Didn’t expect True Blood among Best Drama nominees, though people love their vampires. Major snub for Chandra Wilson not getting a Best Supporting Actress nod for Grey’s. I thought we’d see her and Ellen Pompeo (for lead actress). And finally – hooray for Conan!
