First Look: Doctor Who – New Season, New Doctor

By: Alex Solak

Doctor Who is back this April with the launch a new season, and a new Doctor.

For the un-initiated, Doctor Who is science fiction legend. The series is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world, and as the “most successful” science fiction series of all time.  Over several decades it’s aired over 756 individual episodes to date based on the same storyline.  It’s an epic collection in every sense of the word.

The new season picks up (in true Doctor Who tradition) exactly where the last season left off, with the death of The Doctor in the Christmas special: End of Time.

The new season looks action packed by the looks of the new trailer just released:

Did the Doctor just use a gun!  Weird.  Anyway, I’m especially excited about the return of the monsters from the Episode “Blink”

The Doctor used a gun in The End Of Time, no? Also, if you do your Who research that the Doctor has used a gun on frequent occasions, even killing people if there was no other option. Also, Pertwee’s Doctor used martial arts and fought with villains on a regular basis.

People *really* have to put the RTD/Tennant Doctor out of their minds now. What went before doesn’t necessarily follow over into the next Doctor. :)

Yeah he’s used guns before, I think I remember Christopher Eccleston whipping out a pretty big one against a Dalek.
But the point was he tends to dislike using them.
But yes I’ll concede we shouldn’t expect anything to be the same (except awesome quantum-locked murder angels).
