Survivor Samoa Recap: Final Five Move On To Finale
By: Tim Wilkins
Well, this is the 2nd to last episode for this year’s cycle of “Survivor.” The time has flied by. We’re down to the final six. Four members from Foa Foa (Russell, Jaison, Mick, and Natalie) and Galu’s Brett and Shambo, but lets be honest, Shambo’s been a Foa Foa at heart since she visited. It’s time to start betting on your final 2. Who do you want? Let’s post in the comments below.
This episode opens with the tribe back at camp after the last Tribal Council. The one where Monica stirred up the pot that is Russell, but still got voted out. Ole Brett is giving Shambo a massage. He’s buttering up the jury I tell you.
Russell wants Brett gone. Russell thinks Brett could keep winning Immunity until the end. I’m with you on that Russell. You four Foa’s haven’t survived the Galu massacre to lose to one now.
Day 34 finds us viewing Brett and Natalie’s ‘romance.’ Brett is quoting scripture to her while they lay in bed. Romantic isn’t it? Natalie admits they’ve discussed religious books and the Bible. I think, “Is there a difference? Isn’t the Bible a religious book?”
Russell makes fun of Shambo’s hair. It seems Shambo is over her hair and thinks she’s in need of a haircut. Russell thinks she needs to shave it all off. Russell also says Shambo’s hair is a mullet from the 70’s, that Shambo hides food in her hair, and that it’s ‘a bush of hair.’ I find Russell funny. He must have smoked that banana peel.
Reward Challenge is next. Two teams of 3 plays pull the string holding up coconuts game. The object is to not drop coconuts. First team to 100 coconuts loses, not wins. Natalie and Russell are team captains. Natalie picks Brett and Mick. Russell gets Jaison and Shambo. Winning team gets an overnight stay in a village where a feast awaits them.
During the challenge, Russell begins to stir up the pot that is Natalie picking Brett first. Then, Natalie takes Brett’s hands and with Mick, prays for the Lord to guide their hands. They lose. Not even their prayers saved them.
Russell, Jaison, and Shambo visit a village. They eat, drink, dance, and forget the game for a day. That night, they lay in a bed of sheets, pillows, and blankets. They’re like that roasted pig they tore into earlier, fat and comfortable. They also discuss Natalie’s new closeness with Brett.
While those three enjoy a day off, Natalie, Brett, and Mick decide to do the same. Instead of a feast, they have snails. They take the day off from the game.
Day 35 and the tribe is reunited and plotting. Russell talks to Natalie, who reassures Russell she’s in the final 2 with him til the end. Funny, Russell told Jaison that same thing. Russell even admits Brett is not a physical threat, but a threat for jury votes. I agree, but Brett has been playing low key and he’s saving the best for last. If Brett makes it to the final 2, its Brett’s to lose. The whole jury is Galu. They want him to win. I say the final 2 has to be Foa Foa members. Yet, I disagree with Russell, Brett is a physical threat.
At the Immunity Challenge, my TV went out again. I’ve got to get cable. Brett wins Immunity and saves himself from being voted out. Mick was running a close second. At camp, Russell is deciding between Mick and Shambo. He tells each that the other is the one to go.
It’s also Day 36 and the last time the hidden Idol that Russell has can be played. Russell takes the necklace around his neck to Tribal Council. So, the only people safe tonight are definitely Russell and Brett. Before Jeff Probst tallies the votes, he askes Russell is he wants to play his Idol. Russell says, “No, I’m going to keep it as a souvenir.”
The tribe has spoken and as Jeff says the name Shambo over and over, Shambo’s mouth falls open a little as she looks at Russell. The Galu jury is rolling their eyes at Shambo. I’m sure she’ll be glad to see them again. Shambo even gets up before the last vote is read because she knows her time is up. She leaves and even wishes them all luck. Aw Shambo, we’re going to miss you and your mullet.
The next episode is this Sunday night. It’s two hours with a ‘live finale’ where the winner will be crowned. Who do you think will take Final 2 or be the ultimate Survivor? Do you think Russell can win this game? Please look for my last recap of the season on Sunday night. I think this game is going to be about getting rid of Brett or Brett winning to get to the end. If Brett gets to the Final 2, its his game to lose. Bottom line.
