A few summers ago, ABC and NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal teamed-up to help kids lose weight in the reality-series “Shaq’s Big Challenge”. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a big hit, and got cancelled.

But it looks like the network has signed Shaq to another reality-series scheduled to debut on August 18th.

“Shaq vs….” will see the Basketball star go one on one with some of sport’s top athletes in their own sport. The network has already set-up some interesting match-ups.

He’ll swim against Michael Phelps, play football with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, play tennis vs. Serena Williams, beach volleyball with Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor and box Oscar de la Hoya, among others.

Does the big man stand a chance?

“These athletes may be on top of their game, but I am up for the challenge,” said O’Neal. “I plan to train hard and win, so look out.”

Well Shaq… good luck. Although I would love to see ABC get Kobe Bryant to agree to face Shaq in a challenge. Think of the ratings!
